DESCRIPTION: The flowers buds that are galled by a midge larvae are seen to be swollen and closed and of a purplish- hue.  The larvae are white when young and become more orange in colour as they mature.  These galls are short lived and soon drop from the inflorescence and so are hard to find. DISTRIBUTION: An under-recorded species that seems to have a southerly distribution in the UK. HABITAT: Found on the buds of Hedera helix.
